This position will support Electro-Mechanical Packaging of complex electrical/electronic assemblies. You'll work closely with electrical circuit designers, electrical systems, manufacturing, thermal and stress analysts to support the design and development of electronics hardware. Position will support the Advance Electric Propulsion System (AEPS), NextSTEP and Dream Chaser programs.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Under general supervision,

 

50% - Create Printed Wiring Board (PWB) Layout designs to implement electrical circuit designs for application in demanding environments, using Altium and/or Mentor Graphics Board Station.

 

20% - Evaluate relevant design requirements for product realization working with electrical circuit designers.

15% - Perform analysis as required to confirm design complicance. Support other analysis functions i.e. structural and thermal as required to establish PWB design compliance.


15% - Write PWB test plans and procedures. Support PWB manufacturing vendors as required to facilitate effective PWB assembly and test.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and at least two (2) years of directly related experience (ie: experience in the design of Printed Wiring Board (PWB) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) for aerospace products; electronic packaging design for space applications, with aerospace and/or military experience, with an emphasis on Printed Wiring Board design for power electronics; etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.

 

Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

  • IPC CID certification preferred.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills to coordinate and collaborate with local Operations, as well as other site Engineering organizations and customers.
  • Capable of generating complete drawings set to document PWB and CCA level designs is required.
  • Candidate must have GD&T and tolerance analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with aerospace/defense engineering design and production processess and disciplines.
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams, and to translate PWB designer requirements into tool design rules.
  • Proficiency with the following hardware/software technologies: Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics Board Station, ORCAD, and knowledge of CREO and NX are a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to other Aerojet Rocketdyne facilities, key partners and/or to the customer.

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
