Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Affordability Specialist to join our growing facility in Camden, Arkansas. In this role, and under minimal direction, you will be responsible for solving complex diverse/problems that require the regular use of creativity and innovation. 

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

40% - Facilitate process improvement events at Site, Centers of Excellence (COE) and Program levels (ie: Value Stream Mapping events, 3P’s, Cellular Design, RCA-Mistake Proofing, and miscellaneous Kaizen events, Facility Layouts).

30% - Train and coach employees, teams, and organizations in the use of continuous improvement operating system tools, processes, and methodology.

20% - Support the company’s CIP (Competitive Improvement Program), facilitating the optimization/consolidation of site product lines, and Strategic Planning.

10% - Conduct facility, equipment, and manpower capacity studies; and accurately report through written and oral communications.


Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and ten (10) years of experience in a directly related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred areas of study: Engineering discipline, Business Management, Operations Management, a Manufacturing discipline that includes Lean/Six Sigma in the curriculum (ie: Industrial Engineering), or a degree in a related field that encompasses Quality and/or Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma training.


Certification or ability to be certified to a recognized level of C.I. proficiency (ie: LSS Black Belt) that includes advanced Lean/six sigma tool comprehension and practical facilitation of moderately complex to complex projects/events preferred.

Required experience in leadership positions related to Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma). Must have at least ten years of Lean Practitioner proficiency, facilitating Lean events (VSMs, 3Ps, Standard Work development, other Kaizen activities). Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience utilizing the Toyota Production System (TPS) or other Lean Methodologies with emphasis on 3P.

Demonstrated experience in the successful facilitation of Continuous improvement events that have resulted in tangible cost savings and/or efficiency gains is required.

Preferred that process improvement experience exists for rocket engine/motor and/or missile defense propulsion system fabrication.


US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.



Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
