We are seeking a Procurement Analyst (Buyer) for our location in Huntsville, AL.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

70% - Procure simple components, subassemblies, chemicals and services, using Fixed Price, Time & Material, Labor Hour, Blanket Agreements and Service Agreement type Purchase Orders, as deemed necessary. May include program, overhead and facilities support activity. May include procurement of hazardous, acutely hazardous and energetic type materials. Includes preparations of solicitations, proposal receipt and evaluation, and issuance of formal Purchase Orders, Notice of Awards or Letter Subcontracts.

 

20% - Monitor Supplier performance and assure timely delivery of requirements, to meet customer needs. Will include coordination and escalation, as needed with the requesting organization(s).

 

5% - Conduct informal negotiations, which may lead to written contracts.

 

5% - May assign work to and direct less senior employees as appropriate and required.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and three (3) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of the procurement process, terminology, and general requirements.
  • Good communication (verbal & written), negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • General understanding of contractual flow-downs, terms and conditions, blueprint reading and manufacturing requirements.

Some travel may be required (ability to travel via air carrier and ground vehicle). Valid Driver's license required.

 

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
