Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area). This entry-level management position is a great opportunity for an innovative, creative thinking, mechanical engineer who is interested in moving into a management/leadership role. In this role, you will perform a variety of CAD Services and Design Standards leadership and managerial tasks on fast-paced liquid and solids rocket engine development and production programs. This position supports Aerojet Rocketdyne’s growing Mechanical Design Engineering organization and reports to the Senior Design Manager of CAD Services & Design Standards.

40% - Primary responsibilities are the leadership and management of CAD designer, checkers and design standards staff who lead or support all programs and their associated work products. Individual must be able to provide supervision and strong leadership to accomplish complex CAD designs, associate product definition, Model Based Definition and integration tasks for products, on time and within schedule while minimizing mission risk. Primary duties include supporting program IPT’s and design lead engineers to successfully create and manage product definition and design processes to meet programs’ cost, schedule, quality and risk requirements using/improving Enterprise design processes and tools.
30% - Provides integrated product teams with CAD Design leadership and support to assure product designs and product definition meet program requirements, AR design procedures, CAD standards and best practices.
20% - Implements creative solutions for CAD process improvements, tools, standardization and training as needed to streamline Enterprise design costs for programs while also reinforcing design to cost and re-use when possible. Expected to help develop and drive Model Based Definition practices in design and across the enterprise and supply chain. Innovating new methods of model based definition and digital factory solutions are required to help drive company affordability and quality goals.
10% - Provides employee mentoring and career development opportunities to increase versatile system and component design capability across programs. Interprets and applies administrative processes and procedures that affect the engineering staff.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline and 9 years of mechanical CAD design experience or a combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
