Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Senior Analyst, Contract Administration with government contract experience for our facility in Huntsville, AL.


The Senior Analyst will work under general direction interpreting the conditions and terms of contracts, including fiscal and legal implications, and advises management on all significant procedures and regulations affecting the contract. Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, government regulations and industry protocols.


Additional duties include being responsible for the negotiation, administration and monitoring of major contracts with government agencies and prime contractors including such matters as price, delivery and other terms and clauses involving significant responsibility and liability. Under minimal direction, applies expertise to directly contribute to the development of new concepts and techniques. Assists in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Acts as liaison/consultant with external and internal customers on all matters affecting contractual agreements.


 This opening may be filled at this level or at one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

50% - Plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases of significant project assignment, coordinating the efforts of internal stakeholders in the performance of assigned activities. Administers moderate to large contracts of great complexity. Independently negotiates with the customer contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements, scope and terms. Recommends contract changes, including major revisions and coordinates the preparation and final negotiation of change orders, supplemental agreements, price re-determination, etc. affecting the life of the contract. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements to protect the company.


25% - Monitors internal progress of contracts with various business units to ensure fulfillment of contract requirements. Monitors and reviews for completeness, accuracy and conformance with Federal and Defense procurement regulations and company procedural requirements to protect the company.


15% - Prepares all necessary internal reports for management and periodic reports to customer contracting officers / buyers as required.


10% - Assists in developing policies, procedures and practices relating to contract administration.


Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and six (6) years of contracts management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous work experience as an MOS 51C or AFSC 64P a plus.


US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.


Additional Requirements:

  • Responsible for having a solid understanding of your contract requirements and managing these requirements in accordance with applicable Directives and procedures to meet Program goals.
  • Complete understanding and application of government contract administration principles, concepts, practices and standards.
  • Direct experience related to proposal preparation, contract negotiations, contract administration and government regulations.
  • Ability to quantify an issue/situation and then become actively involved in developing an action plan to achieve a successful result and covering all aspects of the given situation.
  • Capable of guiding your team through contractual matters using your contracting experience and established processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of personal computer applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with leadership representing outside organizations and/or within the company.
  • Ability to work well under constantly changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Adept at handling/administering constructive changes.
  • Possess a strong understanding of FAR and DFARs.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working on Department of Defense production and development contracts in a programmatic environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment highly desired.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of Oracle a plus.


Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours as necessary to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
