Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Specialist Engineer – Combustion & CFD to join our facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
70% - Perform combustion and fluid dynamics analysis for solid and liquid propulsion systems using 1D, 2D, and 3D analytical tools, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis with software such as Fluent. Conduct pre-test performance predictions and post-test analysis of engine test data, and refine the analyses to better match test data through physics-based critical thinking. Be a key part of Aerojet Rocketdyne’s team by leading CFD analysis support on projects to develop solid rocket motors, liquid rocket engines, and high speed air-breathing propulsion systems.
20% - Participate in design and verification tests of both solid and liquid propulsion systems and components. Develop strategies to verify and validate analysis results. Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, design reviews, peer reviews and problem solving meetings.
10% - Produce briefings for peer and management reviews, and present to internal and external customers. Using best practices, document all work and prepare formal reports.
Requires a Bachelors degree and 9 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.
Experience with advanced aerothermodynamics, compressible flow, and combustion analysis of solid rocket motors.
Experience using ANSYS Fluent or Loci framework CFD tools.
