We are looking for a Specialist, Business Operations for the Missile Defense Systems (MDS) market segment in our Huntsville, AL facility. Initial training for this role will be in Sacramento, CA. Training time in Sacramento is 2 weeks per month for 3 to 4 months.


This Lead role is responsible for technical direction to Business Analysts; Earned Value Management Reports; financial management of government contracts, contract changes and proposals; and procurement requisitions. The position involves presenting cost data to internal and external customers on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.


This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Work is performed with minimal direction:


70% - Prepare and maintain budgets, monitor project cost performance data and present to manager. Apply earned value management. Understand and incorporate necessary changes. Create financial spreadsheets including ad hoc reports. Prepares explanation of out of tolerance variances.


15% - Assist in providing forecast of program awards, sales, profit and staffing by entering financial data into Excel spreadsheets. Review data with manager.           


15% - Assist in the analysis of data and prepares financial reports, external and internal. Prepare graphs and charts, for Program Managers and other internal and external customers. Interface with management on financial matters.


Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or an appropriate discipline and ten (10) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An advanced degree in Business Administration is preferred.

Must be flexible for travel. Initial training to be completed in Sacramento, CA.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.  May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.  These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
