We are seeking a Specialist, Project Management (Project Manager) to work out of our Redmond, WA office. In this role, you will support the Orion family of Programs. This Project Manager will report into the NASA Program organization.


This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

80% - Overall responsibility for the administration and/or operational leadership of assigned program element(s) or projects under the immediate guidance of a Program Manager or a Director of Programs with full program authority and ownership. Ensures, through the assigned project team, that contract performance responsibility for their program element(s) or projects are properly delegated to cross functional team members. Acts as primary project contact to establish project objectives or may serve as a point of contact for specific program element(s) or projects. Provides assistance to the program team in meeting established schedules and budgets and in issue management and basic problem resolution.


20% - Provides assistance to other specialists with the generation of Risk Action Plans, review of Statement(s) of Work (SOW) to support program task definition and planning, and completion of program closeout and lessons learned activities. Provides input to the awards and sales forecast on assigned projects. Provides assessment of team performance to appropriate management. May assist Program Managers in the development or implementation of marketing plans for existing and follow-on production programs, including proposal development process, submission and negotiation.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.


Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 9 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of project management within the framework of Project Planning, Project Control (Earned Value), and Project Execution.
  • Innovative thinking abilities who can challenge existing systems in order to create bold, inventive solutions that enhance efficiency within development and production projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and delegate work assignments.
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities to provide technical and administrative guidance for activities in defined scope of responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to utilize excellent oral and written communication skills to build teams that are goal-oriented and focused on success, including presentation skills appropriate for management level.



Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
