We are bringing 800 new jobs to Huntsville, Alabama and building a state-of-the art advanced manufacturing facility where we will produce our industry-leading solid propulsion systems and our next-generation rocket engine.  Our efforts to build on our existing presence in Huntsville are in full swing. Defense-related program management, engineering and related support positions will be housed at this site, home of Aerojet Rocketdyne's Defense headquarters and Rocket Shop Defense Advanced Programs.  

 

Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks Structures and Dynamics Engineers for this Huntsville, AL location.  Aerojet Rocketdyne is identifying prospects with the skills and experience to fulfill our current and anticipated hiring needs. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Performs structural analysis as part of a team to provide design guidance and verify product designs meet structural, thermal and performance requirements.

 

60% - Perform structural analyses utilizing classic hand calculation methods and finite element models developed using ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN or similar tools. Conduct static and dynamic structural analyses. Correlate analysis models and test results. Provide assessment of the products ability to satisfy internal structural requirements as well as those flowed by the customer.

 

20% - Report status and results of analysis tasks at design and program reviews.

 

20% - Prepare technical reports documenting all analysis activities.

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline (Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace) and three to eight (3-8) years of engineering experience with static and/or dynamic structural analysis, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. A Master's degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred. Demonstrated experience in performing linear, non-linear and dynamic structural analyses supporting design, development and production qualification is required. This position requires proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS. Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is expected.

 

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

 

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
