We are bringing 800 new jobs to Huntsville, Alabama, home of Aerojet Rocketdyne's Defense headquarters and Rocket Shop Defense Advanced Programs, and building a state-of-the art advanced manufacturing facility.  Our efforts are in full swing, building upon our existing presence in Huntsville. Defense-related program management, engineering and related support positions will be housed at this site.  This team will design products such as solid rocket motors, controllable solid propulsion systems, and advanced solid rocket motor propulsion systems for a wide array of customers and programs.  This team will also provide advanced conceptual design to support the RocketShop as well as supporting enterprise-wide efforts in areas such as hypersonics.



Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks Configuration Management Analysts for this Huntsville, AL location.




Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)




Under general direction, the selected candidate will perform assignments requiring application of Industry standard Configuration Management practices and principles supporting development and production environments for multiple programs.


30% - Perform configuration management duties verifying various types of Design, Product Definition and Operations data.


30% - Perform verification and management of Class I and Class II engineering changes for completeness and accuracy including; configuration identification, bill-of-materials, relationships and affected documents.


25% - Participate in preparation for and leadership of Configuration Control Boards.


15% - Represent Configuration Management within cross-functional teams providing guidance and support for configuration management practices, principles, policies and procedures.




Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and three to eight (3 - 8) years of directly related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience).


Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and processes are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management practices and principles and knowledge of ISO10007 and EIA649 required.
  • Knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter desired.  Familiarity with PTC Windchill, a plus.
  • CMII or CMPIC certification desired.
  • Knowledge of design, development and manufacture of mechanical and electrical systems desired.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.  US Citizenship only required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. This position requires the employee to have access to premises  or perform duties which are subject to national security requirements of the United States under government contracts that impose US Citizenship requirements for such positions.     



Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
