We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion.

 

We are seeking experienced Quality Engineers to join our team in our Huntsville, AL office. Aerojet Rocketdyne is identifying prospects with the skills and experience to fulfill our current and anticipated hiring needs. This posting may not represent a specific immediate opening but rather broadly represents a type of opening for which we anticipate hiring or may currently be open. These individual will provide program Quality Engineering support for assigned contracted programs spanning the life cycle of the program including design, development, production, test and supplier support.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

20% - Utilizes engineering background and expertise to communicate between team members, customer counterparts, and suppliers, to provide assurance that the hardware is compliant to specification. Handles and communicates deviations/nonconformances at different levels within the organization. Understands and communicates processes (machining, welding, NDT, etc) and how they are applied to the hardware being manufactured.


20% - Applies modern quality principles, concepts and methods, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process variation management tools to continuously improve processes, reduce cost, and ensure the Quality of our products and services.


10% - Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer’s expectations.


10% - Drives corrective and preventative action activity both in-house and at the supplier, and provides corrective action board support to manage timely and effective problem closure and recurrence control.


10% - Participates in design reviews to identify inspectability and producibility issues and opportunities early in the product life cycle.


10% - Provides a clear and concise flow down of product definition and quality requirements to suppliers.


10% - Prepares comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations for both internal and external customers.


10% - Interfaces with the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide technical justification when a nonconformance to mutually agreed specifications is determined.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline (Engineering preferred) and 5-10 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong understanding of Engineering and Manufacturing processes preferred.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%.
  • High regard for ethics and safety. Employees are expected to comply with Aerojet Rocketdyne’s Code of Ethics.  Knowledge of safety programs and physical hazard control programs/methodologies associated with the work place, work practices or equipment. 

US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply.
