Aerojet Rocketdyne, a major aerospace corporation responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, seeks a Manager for a full-time position in the Systems Development, Verification and Test discipline in Redmond, Washington.
This Systems Engineering management position provides leadership support and is accountable for the technical engineering management of AR space propulsion programs that require the design, development, verification and qualification of monopropellant, bipropellant, and electric propulsion engines. This position requires knowledge and experience with in-space propulsion rocket engines used in spacecraft and launch vehicle applications.
This position may be filled at this level or one level higher.
10% - Manager will be responsible and direct the development and implementation of Systems Engineering methods, standards, practices, and procedures; act as liaison between SDV&T and other engineering disciplines and organizations.
10% - Manager will provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of product and process improvement and affordability activities. Routine reporting and communication with SDV&T director and peer SDV&T / engineering managers is also expected.
20% - Manager will perform functional management responsibilities, including program staffing, employee skill and career development, performance evaluations, salary planning, work prioritization and technical oversight of employee work product.
60% - Manager will provide leadership and direct technical support of AR products and services for both development and operational / production programs. These programs include monopropellant, bipropellant, and electric propulsion engines including advance electric propulsion systems. Additional duties include development, verification and qualification planning and testing; systems integration; test equipment & facility coordination; support of product assembly; anomaly investigations; and test readiness review process and test risk assessment.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 9 years of progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in liquid and electric rocket engine development, systems engineering & integration, verification and test. Strong technical and team-working skills required. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
