We are seeking a Preset Machine Tool Operator to join our team in Canoga Park, California. Union position. 3rd Shift.

 

Determine and select cutting tools and tool holders for machining aircraft parts on all types of machine shop work centers.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

10% -Familiarity with standard and special machine shop cutting tools. Possess a sound understanding of the various machining cutting tool applications and tool holders associated with those machine centers.

 

20% -Determine the type of tool holders needed to perform the preset operation of various drills, end mills, reams, and insets per setup sheet instructions. Be familiar with cutting tool types materials and uses. 

 

30% -Setup and adjust tools in tool holders including shrink fit applications using the Zoeller preset machine. Be familiar with precision hand tools for measurement of tool diameters, lengths and radii. Be able to establish cutting tool concentricity and total run out using automated measuring equipment.

 

30% -Check cutting tools for conformance to tool specifications, drawings and setup sheet instructions. Must be able to clearly communicate with manufacturing personnel. Daily interaction with the machinist’s, tool engineers and NCMD programmers is required.

 

10% -Record manufacturing data and statistics manually or with the aid of a computer or computer based system.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

 

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

 

- Familiar with Cutting Tool setting equipment "Mechanical and Shrink Fit"

- Familiar with Cutting tools; types, materials, uses.

- Knowledge of machining processes

- Capable of using precision hand tools for measurement of diameters, lengths and radii.

- Good communication skills

- Good computer skills

 

 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.   May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
