Aerojet Rocketdyne is currently seeking a Security Analyst to support security operations for the Huntsville, AL site. Working under general supervision, the Security Analyst will assist with developing and administering all aspects of a government compliance with the National Industrial Security Procedures Operating Manual (NISPOM). The analyst is functional in multiple security domains and will serve as the Alternate Facility Security Officer for the site.

 

This current opening may be filled at this level or at one level higher.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

45% - Personnel Security: The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge with DoD Personnel security policies. The person selected will serve as the subject matter expert in regards to the DoD personnel security background screening process and the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) for the site. Primary responsibilities for the personnel security domain are:

  • Initiate, monitor and finalize background investigations;
  • Manage Personnel Security Management network (PSMNet);
  • Generate Outgoing Visit Requests (OVRs);
  • Process Incoming Visit Requests (IVRs).

20% - Physical Security: Candidates will display knowledge related to physical security and visitor control operations. Persons will have demonstrable experience with implementing and maintaining access control and intrusion detection systems. Individual will assists security management in the preparation of facility accreditation packages and site security plans; ensures physical security requirements are adhered to.

 

15% - Information Management Security: The candidate will be the primary focal point for controlling government national security information. The selected person will demonstrate attention to detail and a thorough understanding of NISPOM requirements governing the marking and handling of classified materials. The selected person will be familiar with the receipt and dispatch operations.

 

5% - Security Investigations: As needed, the candidate will perform investigations of potential violations of corporate security policies. The ideal candidate will be familiar with investigation methods and processes required to implement an effective investigation.

 

5% - Communications Security: Ideal candidate will assists security management in the maintenance and accountability of electronic communication equipment. Ensures communications (secure telephones and fax) are compliant with Telephone Security Group and other applicable standards/requirements.

 

10% - Other assignments in support of department goals and objectives.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 3 years of directly related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

 

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with all levels of management and individual contributors.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows based computer environments and Microsoft Office productivity software is essential.
  • Ability to analyze complex security problems and provide focused solutions to accomplish program objectives.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time

Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Security Information Management Systems (SIMS).
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification.

 

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
