Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our growing internal audit team as a Specialist, Audit (Senior Internal Audit and Consulting Specialist) to work at our Sacramento, CA location.


You will be part of our audit staff with high visibility to the Company's Senior Executives. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Internal Audit.


The right candidate will be responsible for performing various internal audit projects with minimal supervision, in accordance with the Company’s internal audit plan. Engagements are risk-based (not recurring, rotational projects) and include Operational, Financial, Compliance, Advisory, and Investigative examinations.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Under minimal direction:


90% - Execute internal audit projects according to the internal audit plan from beginning to end with minimal supervision. This responsibility includes developing the internal audit scope, performing internal audit procedures, and drafting internal audit reports reflecting the results of the work performed.

  • Build management relationships by demonstrating professionalism, a facilitative communication style and constructive responses to auditee needs.
  • Work in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders in the identification of functional, organizational and procedural issues and bring about timely solutions.
  • Direct the work of other internal auditors including audit resources from our co-source partner.

5% - Assist with the annual risk assessment process.


5% - Support recruiting activities.


Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least ten (10) years of progressive financial and/or operational experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Additional Requirements:

  • Strong financial accounting and internal control background.
  • US Citizenship Only Required.  Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10-20% annually to perform audits.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as CPA and CIA strongly preferred. MBA desired.
  • Audit experience within a manufacturing, aerospace or government contracting environment.
  • Experience working at a large auditing firm. 
  • Experience auditing in an ERP Environment such as Oracle.
  • Cost accounting experience.
  • Experience with automated work paper systems and data analytics.



Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.  May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.  These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
