We are seeking a Equipment Test Mechanic Senior for our Canoga Park, CA facility. 1st shift. Union position.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Fabricate, assemble, install, modify, test and evaluate, troubleshoot and repair hydro-mechanical and pneumatic test equipment used in the functional testing of rocket engines, guided missiles, or other similar test projects. Lay out panels, console cabinets, structural assemblies and holding devices for locating instruments, hydrostatic and pneumatic equipment and systems for test stands, control centers, launching platforms and mobile equipment. Assemble, repair and adjust hydromechanical and pneumatic operating units to exacting tolerances by doing hand fitting and lapping in areas difficult to access, making numerous settings and adjustments and testing flow, internal leakage, pressure drop, load curves and cycles, using a flow bench to simulate actual operating conditions. Troubleshoot plumbing system at test projects, including valve sequencing and timing which fail to respond to standard or established corrective measures or adjustments by diagnosing causes of malfunctioning and determining necessary corrective action to take. Improvise and adapt special equipment used for testing and/or adjusting intricate valves, pumps, tanks and piping used in connection with a test project.


High School Diploma is preferred.


Minimum 7 years of experience in a closely related field.  Hands-on experience with complex mechanical system assembly, including knowledge of best practices used in a shop environment, and the ability to select and properly use a wide variety of mechanic’s tools, including:

- Pipe, tube and associated fittings

- Valves and regulators

- Fasteners and fastening techniques

- Seals, gaskets and lubricants

- Use of hand tools and power tools

- Basic electricity, basic instrumentation


Experience with high pressure hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems and familiarity with pressure system operating concepts.

Basic math skills- solid understanding of basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry. 

Familiarity with dimensional/physical units of measure.

Basic reading and comprehension skills; experience following direction provided by detailed planning, work procedures, specifications, and drawings/blueprints.


Mandatory training requirements: Confined space, fall protection, PIV, LOTO, bridgecrane.


US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.



Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.  Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Some positions may require Respirator clearance up to and including the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Level A clearance. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
