Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Avionics Engineering organization. This position will be located at our facility in Canoga Park, California (Los Angeles area) and will report to the Avionics Special Test Equipment (STE) Design Process Manager.
In this role, you will initially support the Advance Electric Propulsion System (AEPS), NextC Thruster and RS 25 Engine Controller programs. You will perform an array of technical and project engineering related duties in support of a variety of Avionics STE design projects.
Travel will be required to other Aerojet Rocketdyne facilities, key partners and the customer.
Working under limited general direction:
50% - Lead the Special Test Equipment (STE) design team to design, develop and deliver the STE system as required to support the AEPS thruster hot fire tests and follow-on production program. For this function, extensive knowledge of STE design and development processes required to support Avionics design verification, qualification (including hot fire tests) and production acceptance tests is needed, as well as experience working closely with Avionics design engineers, design analysts, system engineers, quality engineers and manufacturing personnel is preferred. Additionally, experience in leading hardware and software design peer and program level design reviews, and an intimate knowledge of the FPGA design process, including VHDL programming, layout, simulation and test techniques is desired.
40% - Develop and manage the development plans, schedules and cost accounting for AEPS STE project. For this function, extensive experience in project planning, scheduling and budgeting is needed, as well as experience in reporting to and working with Program Management, Chief Engineers, Program Schedulers and Cost Account Management is preferred.
10% - Travel to other Aerojet Rocketdyne, customer and supplier sites for design reviews and technical interface meetings.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering; MS degree preferred, and 5 years of progressive experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
