Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Engineer to support our Mission Architecture group in Huntsville AL. Under general direction, the Senior Engineer determines approaches to address technical and development objectives demonstrating an in-depth understanding and application of propulsion principles, concepts, and practices. Works within an integrated product team environment to design, demonstrate, and develop rocket propulsion systems.

75% - Identifies, evaluates, and provides creative and practical solutions to a wide range of solid rocket propulsion systems, including boosters and controllable thrust systems for defense applications, which require the use of conventional engineering design and analysis methods and tools. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of company processes and procedures. Works on assignments requiring broad knowledge of precedents in rocket propulsion and in-depth knowledge of principles and practices within propulsion industry. Performs integrated trajectory/vehicle/propulsion analysis and design optimization for a wide range of missile and launch vehicle applications. Conceives and plans projects involving the development of existing and new programs that address technical objectives. Participates in the planning and conduct of system studies, design requirements, development testing, and design reviews. Defines systems requirements and determines applicable validation methods for compliance and verification. Participates in technical proposals describing design approach, relevant heritage, risk assessment and mitigation planning, and rationale with estimated cost and schedule.
25% - Prepares and delivers results in oral presentations and/or written documents. Provides guidance to less experienced engineers. Support engineering improvement initiatives such as tool enhancements and standard work procedures.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or appropriate discipline/science and at least 5 years of directly related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree is desirable. Expertise in the development of solid rocket systems is strongly desirable. Working knowledge of CAD tools (UG or Pro-E), as well as programming tools (Fortran, Python, Matlab, C, Visual Basic, Excel, etc.), and analysis tools such as Model Center and POST is desirable.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
