We are currently seeking a CNC Programming Specialist to join our facility in Canoga Park, California

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

With minimal direction, the CNC Programming Specialist is responsible for:

 

50% - Writing new CNC programs, setup instructions, estimating and making changes to existing CNC programs. Will develop, write and maintain NC programs for complex aerospace components using engineering models, drawings and specifications to support a zero defects machining operations environment. Selects program routines for the most efficient machining methods for each part. Will be involved in the prove out of new technology, first article inspection, fixture design, and day to day programming using Siemens NX9-NX11 CAM.

 

10% - Analyzing engineering models/drawings to define the sequence of machining operations to ensure that the design intent and component quality is achieved.

 

10% - Using machine simulation and optimization software to troubleshoot/validate CNC programs and ensure highly efficient and 100% defect-free FTT machining processes.

 

10% - Modifying existing parts programs for engineering changes or program improvements.

 

5% - Making proper cutting tool selections, taking into consideration such factors as materials, speeds, type of cutters, feeds and control system imitations.

 

5% - Working closely with Machinists, Quality, Engineering, Management and other team members.

 

5% - Developing, writing and maintaining type II probe and logic macros to perform on machine touch probe measuring, fixture updates, cutter offset updates, and part feature data collection.

 

5% - Participating in knowledge sharing and cross training activity within the NC programming group.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and nine (9) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing and operate effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with exotic alloy material properties, cutting tools and machine tool capabilities to develop a part machining plan.
  • Must have demonstrated organizational discipline, adhering to rigorous revision control requirements.
  • Siemens NX9-NX11 NC Programming experience.
  • DMU Mori with Siemens 840D Experience ; Specifically DMU80 FD and DMU65.
  • Expertise in Lathe, Millturn, and 5 axis Mill programming of high temp alloy materials.

Expertise with any/all of the following preferred:

  • NX Post Builder.
  • NX Machine tool Configurator.
  • Vericut Machine Builder.
  • Fanuc custom macro programming.
  • Siemens 840D macro programming.

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.   May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations.   May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
