Aerojet Rocketdyne, a major aerospace corporation responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, seeks a Manager for a full-time position in the Systems Requirements, Integration, and Risk discipline in Redmond, Washington.
This Systems Engineering management position provides leadership support and is accountable for the technical engineering management of AR space propulsion programs that require the design, development, verification and qualification of monopropellant, bipropellant, and electric propulsion engines. This position requires knowledge and experience with Systems Engineering application in product development efforts for in-space propulsion rocket engines used in spacecraft and launch vehicle applications, with a focus on System Requirements, Integration, and Risk (SRIR).
60% - Manager will provide leadership and direct technical support of AR product development efforts for both development and operational/production programs. These programs include monopropellant, bipropellant, and electric propulsion systems including advanced electric propulsion systems. Additional duties include proposal and program support in requirements development, management, verification planning and compliance reporting; systems integration; and risk and opportunity management.
20% - Manager will perform functional management responsibilities, including program staffing, employee skill and career development, performance evaluations, salary planning, work prioritization and technical oversight of employee work product.
10% - Manager will be responsible and direct the development and implementation of Systems Engineering methods, standards, practices, and procedures; act as liaison between SRIR and other engineering disciplines and organizations.
10% - Manager will provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of product and process improvement and affordability activities. Routine reporting and communication with SRIR director and peer SRIR/engineering managers is also expected.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 9 years of progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in liquid and electric rocket propulsion system development, systems engineering (requirements, integration, and risk/opportunity management). Strong technical and team-working skills required. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
