Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne, a major aerospace corporation responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, seeks a Manager for a full time position in the Systems Analysis (SA) discipline in Huntsville, Alabama.

 

This Systems Engineering management position provides leadership support and is accountable for the technical engineering management of AR defense programs that require the design, development, verification and qualification of advanced propulsion systems, including controllable solid rocket systems. This position requires knowledge and experience with propulsion rocket systems used in tactical, strategic and missile defense applications.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

10% - Manager will be responsible and direct the development and implementation of Systems Engineering methods, standards, practices, and procedures; act as liaison between SA and other engineering disciplines and organizations.

 

10% - Manager will provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of product and process improvement and affordability activities.  Routine reporting and communication with SA director and peer SA engineering managers is also expected.

 

20% - Manager will perform functional management responsibilities, including program staffing, employee skill and career development, performance evaluations, salary planning, work prioritization and technical oversight of employee work product.

 

60% - Manager will provide leadership and direct technical support of AR products and services for both development and operational / production programs. These programs include conventional and controllable solid rocket propulsion systems, and air-breathing propulsion systems. Additional duties include requirements derivation, control algorithm development, simulation and modeling as necessary to support development, verification and qualification planning and testing.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 9 years of progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in liquid and electric rocket engine development, modeling/simulation, control theory, verification and test. Strong technical and team-working skills required. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.

 

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto.  May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
