Overview

The Manager, Program Management is responsible for managing programs with significant size, risk, or complexity. This position will serve as a lead and is fully accountable for coordinating the actions of functional support organizations to accomplish tasks and meet contractual objectives. In conjunction, this position will provide inputs and ratings of program-specific performance for functional support. Additionally, oversees tasks of strategic importance to the product area.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

50% - Provides overall program direction, control, and coordination of a production program and product line. Responsible for management and contract performance of a program or elements of a program under direction of a Senior Director. Responsible for multi-functional or complex programs. Manages and directs assigned programs, which includes defining and understanding program scope, managing overall schedules and budget in accordance with applicable contractual and Aerojet Rocketdyne policies. Assures through the assigned program team that contract performance responsibility is properly delegated to performing organizations. Supports the development and implementation of plans for follow-on production programs including proposal development, submittal, negotiation, and definition. Participates in the forecast of awards/margins and sales/profit and management of cash for assigned programs as part of the Aerojet Rocketdyne business planning cycle. Provides guidance and assistance to project team in meeting established schedules or to resolve complex technical or operations problems.

 

25% - Responsible for effectively utilizing functional organizations to integrate research and development, production, quality assurance, test, production support, procurement, contractual and financial data.

 

25% - Acts as primary interface for communications with the senior Aerojet Rocketdyne executive management; customer management personnel; and is accountable for the successful accomplishment of all contractual requirements.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires the ability to direct and control overall organizational resources.

 

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with executive management and customers.
  • Strategic development and growth mindset à work with customers and senior business development to find new business opportunities; develop associated program strategies and plans for new technology implementation; and a demonstrated ability to execute high-visibility development programs.
  • Previous D5 Post Boost Control System program management experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience with EPDM rocket system insulation manufacturer qualification efforts is a plus.
  • Practical experience with schedule development, critical path management, risk management, EV management.
  • Thorough understanding and experience with Maestro and AR’s Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning system is desirable.
  • Experience with Material Resource Planning is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Oracle for Supply Chain Management, Production planning, and inventory processes.
  • Strong cost management and program performance monitoring skills with demonstrated program management performance for on-budget completion.
  • EVM experience is desirable.
  • Experience with manufacturing and/or manufacturing coordination/planning/scheduling is desired.

 

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
