Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Configuration Management Analyst to join our facility in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area). In this role, you will perform a variety of complex assignments related configuration management (engineering data) such as processing and controlling the changes made to all design disclosures including drawings, specifications, company standards and client documentation; Coordinating and participating in physical and functional configuration audits with functional organizations; Preparing configuration management plans conforming to contract requirements and more.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Under limited general direction, the Senior Analyst determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices. Provides imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of configuration management techniques. May have configuration management responsibilities for one or more programs of varying complexity.


35% - Review documentation utilizing configuration management requirements and techniques; including identification, controls and status accounting, for releasing documentation within corporate PLM tool/s (Windchill).


Participate as a member of various project teams and committees. Participate in preliminary and critical design reviews, data reviews and product reviews, recommending and initiating changes if necessary.

30% - Perform contract and or supplier data entry within the PLM and submittal follow up, under minimal supervision.

25% - Support development of data packages for hardware pedigree reviews as directed.

5% - Support software configuration management responsibilities as defined by the software process group’s procedures.


5% - Support configuration and data management functions relating to document and data retention. Prepare and maintain configuration accounting reports that are required in contracts and/or company policies. May provide technical guidance to less senior configuration management analysts and to design staff.


Requires a Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).


Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.

  • Understanding and application of Configuration and Data Management principles, concepts, and practices expected.

  • Knowledge of information technology systems, concepts, hardware and software programs preferred.

  • Skilled in use of Product Lifecycle Management tools like Windchill preferred.

  • CM II or CMPIC courses helpful.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
