We are currently seeking a Logistics Supervisor at our facility in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area).

 

The Logistics Supervisor accomplishes results through hourly and/or entry-level exempt employees. This position monitors work operations on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to 12 - 15 direct reports.

 

Responsible for reporting on the status of all assigned activities in process and for promptly advising management of any major problems involved in meeting schedules.  May supervise the review of program status and reports on work load projections, facility utilization, and master plan schedule status and projection to conform with business plans.  Maintains contacts with inter-organizational and external representatives.  Participate in briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific and/or organizational projects or operations.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

40% - Plan, direct, and coordinate the efforts of personnel activities of one or more production support functions, including the issuance and scheduling of work orders, establishment of shop load schedules and determination of project priorities, manage daily shipping routes & schedules, track progress of shipments.  Manage mailroom personnel. Monitor and provide oversight of all mailroom functions to include timely receipt and delivery of all incoming and outgoing mail. Oversee Off Site Warehouse functions with the exception of inventory control. Responsibilities include: Surplus Sales oversight and excess inventory disposition.

 

15% - Responsible for union contract administration including responding to grievances and understanding contract interpretation for assigned functions. May be responsible for the development of proposals including such areas as transportation, warehousing, manpower projections, facilities planning, equipment, etc.

 

15% - Act as a resource person to direct report personnel and associate departments in the application and interpretation of Company policies, management directives, standard practices as well as engineering, federal, state and local codes, standards, and specifications.

 

15% - Monitor and submit departmental budget expenditures

 

15% - Support Enterprise Logistics organization initiatives, projects and ARBOS (continuous improvement) as directed by management. Travel to other AR logistics sites may be required on a limited basis.

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.    

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of progressive experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a managerial/supervisorial role specifically working with warehousing, logistics, and transportation preferred. Must have demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control the activities of the assigned organization.
  • Strong Microsoft skills required specifically with Excel.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills, analytical, organizational skills, and customer focused.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
