We are seeking an Assembly Operations Manager at our Stennis Space Center (SSC) facility in Mississippi.
This first level management position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Assembly Operations at SSC. The manager develops plans, organizes, and directs the assembly operations mechanics and technicians to deliver complex aerospace components and engines which meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Hires and oversees training and development of direct reports to ensure to ensure adequate depth and flexibility of resources to support multiple, overlapping program objectives and mitigate single-point constraints. Other responsibilities include: coordinating with scheduling personnel to ensure the Integrated Master Schedule is realistic and achievable, ensure on-time assembly start dates, and compliance with enterprise processes (e.g., safety, health, and environment; continuous improvement; 6S; foreign object elimination; time charging; clean/dust controlled rooms; and tool control). Provides employee performance feedback, manages overtime, determines appropriate pay, rewards and recognition, and discipline as necessary. Leads investigations into incidents involving employees within his/her area of responsibility pertaining to safety, quality, customer escapes, foreign object damage, and tool control.

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and control the activities of an organization.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
