We are seeking a Quality Engineering Principal to join our team in our Canoga Park, CA office.

 

This individual will help lead the development and implementation of an Enterprise Quality Engineering process spanning the full program life cycle (design, development, production, test and supplier support) and the variety of different product lines for Aerojet Rocketdyne. This individual will also train and mentor lead and support quality engineers in creating and implementing effective quality program plans, Program Quality Requirement Summaries (PQRS) and optimizing program performance within approved Aerojet Rocketdyne quality management system to the Enterprise, as well as various programs.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

20% - Serves as a Quality Engineering technical advisor for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes for an assigned area of responsibilities. Develops and implements Enterprise standard work that applies to all AR product lines and spans the entire product life cycle.

 

20% - Plans, conducts and/or technically directs projects or major phases of significant Q&MA projects as assigned by the Director, Quality Engineering or VP, Q&MA.

 

10% - Identifies and applies appropriate advanced quality tools for a given situation to include Design of Experiments (DOE), Design to Cost (DTC), and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

 

10% - Trains and mentors lead and support quality engineers in creating and implementing effective quality program plans, Program Quality Requirement Summaries (PQRS) and optimizing program performance within approved Aerojet Rocketdyne quality management system.

 

10% - Provides oversight for the development and maintenance of quality programs, systems, processes and procedures that ensure compliance with policies and that the performance and quality of products conform to established standards and customer guidelines.

 

10% - Acts as an independent reviewer or subject matter expert for failure investigations and engineering milestone reviews to ensure proper implementation and compliance with command media as well as quality and mission assurance principles.

 

10% - Drives corrective and preventative action activity both in-house and at the Supplier, and provides corrective action board support to manage timely and effective problem closure and recurrence control. Mentors less senior quality engineers.

 

5% - Audits, reviews and coordinates internal audit activities to validate effectiveness.

 

5% - Participates as a quality subject matter expert in the proposal development process.

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: -Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 14 years of directly related experience (20 years of experience preferred).

 

US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated history of root cause and corrective action expertise.
  • Demonstrated history of advanced Quality Engineering discipline application and development.
  • A diverse work experience outside of Q&MA and/or outside of AR.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a close-knit team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license. Employees who drive on company business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the Company.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply.
