Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Redmond, WA.


In this role, you will work with suppliers to review requirements upon purchase order receipt and ensure compliance, create inspection requirements, drive corrective actions (when necessary) and ensure continuous improvement. You will also serve as a liaison between the various program functions and the Supplier Quality Assurance group and coordinate with Quality Engineers and Inspectors in the field to meet the program needs. This position will have an emphasis on electronic hardware utilized on Aerojet Rocketdyne's in space propulsion systems.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under general supervision:


40% - Utilize the 8D and other methods to investigate discrepancies of hardware and documentation and drive the suppliers to effective resolution. Maintain ownership over the supplier's quality rating and drive actions to reduce total Cost of Poor Quality in the supply base.


30% - Review purchase order requirements with supplier to ensure plans are in place for compliance. Follow up on outstanding actions to ensure the suppliers have a successful production build.


20% - Review and approve supplier data packages to ensure compliance with requirements. Resolve any data issues that are found during review.


10% - Create and maintain supplier excellence plans to ensure the assigned suppliers maintain an acceptable quality rating.


Requires a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 30%. Valid driver's license.
  • Requires effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a close-knit team environment.
  • Strong problem solving, RCCA, Lean manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or inspections required (experience with GD&T).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Quality Engineer.
  • IPC-610,620 and J-STD-001FS certification and/or experience.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
