Aerojet Rocketdyne, a major aerospace corporation responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, seeks a Manager for a full-time position in the Engineering Analysis Structures and Dynamics (S&D) discipline in Jupiter, Florida.
This Structures and Dynamics Engineering management position provides leadership support and is accountable for the detailed analysis team work scope of AR space and defense programs with liquid rocket engine and hypersonic propulsion systems. This position requires knowledge and experience leading and performing structural analyses to verify product designs meet structural performance requirements of propulsion systems used in space and defense applications.
This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Stress and Dynamics at Aerojet Rocketdyne.
10% - Manager will be responsible for and direct the development and implementation of Structures and Dynamics analysis methods, standards, practices, and procedures; act as liaison between S&D and other engineering disciplines and organizations.
10% - Manager will provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of product and process improvement and affordability activities. Routine reporting and communication with the Stress and Dynamics senior manager, Analysis senior director, S&D director and peer S&D engineering managers is also expected.
20% - Manager will perform functional management responsibilities, including program staffing, employee skill and career development, performance evaluations, salary planning, work prioritization and technical oversight of employee work products.
60% - Manager will provide leadership and direct structural and dynamic analysis technical support of AR products and services for both development and operational/production programs. These programs include booster and upper stage liquid rocket engine propulsion systems and hypersonic propulsion systems used in space and defense applications. Additional duties include requirements derivation, interpreting customer specified aerospace structural requirements and coordinating with other teams such as design and materials to obtain data as necessary to support propulsion system structural and dynamic analysis.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 9 years of progressive structural analysis experience. Master’s degree strongly desired. PhD degree is a plus. Strong technical and team-working skills required. Previous lead engineer or management experience is a plus. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Experience leading and performing structural linear, non-linear and dynamic analyses required. Experience using finite element tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or ABAQUS expected. Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts required. Experience with structural analysis of liquid and hypersonic propulsion systems is strongly desired.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
