Aerojet Rocketdyne, a major aerospace corporation responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, seeks a Manager for a full-time position in the Engineering Analysis Structures and Dynamics (S&D) discipline in Canoga Park, California.
This Structures and Dynamics Engineering management position provides leadership support and is accountable for the detailed analysis team work scope of AR space programs with advanced propulsion systems. This position requires knowledge and experience leading and performing structural analyses to verify product designs meet structural performance requirements of propulsion rocket systems used in space applications.
60% - Manager will provide leadership and direct structural analysis technical support of AR products and services for both development and operational/production programs. These programs include RS-25, RS-68, AR1, Orion and other liquid rocket engine and space applications. Additional duties include requirements derivation, understanding customer specified aerospace structural requirements, coordinating with other team members for loads and material properties data as necessary to support rocket propulsion systems.
20% - Manager will perform functional management responsibilities, including program staffing, employee skill and career development, performance evaluations, salary planning, work prioritization and technical oversight of employee work product.
10% - Manager will be responsible and direct the development and implementation of Structures and Dynamics structural analysis methods, standards, practices, and procedures; act as liaison between S&D and other engineering disciplines and organizations.
10% - Manager will provide leadership for the design, development and implementation of product and process improvement and affordability activities. Routine reporting and communication with the Analysis senior director, S&D director, Component Stress, Senior Manager and other S&D engineering managers is also expected.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Engineering or similar discipline and a minimum of 9 years of progressive structural analysis experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Master’s degree strongly desired. Strong technical and team-working skills required. Previous lead engineer or management experience is a plus. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Experience leading and performing linear, non-linear and dynamic structural analyses required. Experience using finite element tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or ABAQUS expected. Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts required. Experience with structural analysis of liquid rocket engines and other corresponding space hardware, is strongly desired.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
