Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to join our Camden, Arkansas location. In this role, you will serve as the Quality Site Lead for our location in Orange (Culpeper), Virginia, so travel expectations would be as high as 50%.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Without appreciable direction, the Quality Engineering Specialist applies expertise to directly contribute to the development of new concepts and techniques. This position exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.


60% - Develops supplier strategies for the site and coordinates enterprise supplier quality assurance (SQA) resources in the field to support needs of the site. Participates and supports internal and supplier site activities including management reporting, SQE training, Supplier issue investigation support, customer supplier initiatives and direct supplier product acceptance and supplier management activities and support as required.


20% - Serves as the voice of the site to represent their unique needs into the overall enterprise Supplier Quality strategy, standard work, etc. Assist site quality leadership in gathering and reporting information related to supplier performance for the site.


15% - Works SQE tasks such as SSRs, FAIs, etc. Targeting >80% utilization. Provides SQE management awareness of issues and needs of the site business unit.


5% - Ownership, accountability, and responsibility for performance of suppliers supporting Camden and Orange sites.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and nine (9) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


Additional Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of statistics and the interpretation of statistical results expected.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively under general direction and make proper technical judgments, often under stressful conditions.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance Systems requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel about 50% of the time.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Technical experience in Product Reliability, Laboratory Test Procedures, Production, and/or Process Engineering.
  • Proficient computer skills with Oracle 12 Database a plus.
  • Advanced degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Manufacturing and/or inspection background.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Will require the ability to travel by air or auto. Will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Individual must be a self-starter with flexibility to travel on a regular basis.
