Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Program Management Specialist to join our Huntsville, AL location.

 

This position is for a Program Manager in the THAAD & Strategic Systems Program Sector supporting the THAAD program. This position will be the Obsolescence lead ensuring qualification of new materials is on time, on budget, and transitioned effectively into the production program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead multiple development projects demonstrating project leadership with a strong technical team.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

75% - Effective execution of responsible project(s).

  • Represent company as primary customer interface for all Obsolescence needs.
  • Collaborate with all functions to establish define qualification approach and execute project scope.
  • Ensure timely submittal of all customer data submittals.
  • Utilize earned value management to manage project establishing earned value baseline.
  • Submit accurate and timely financial reports to customer.
  • Effectively communicate schedule & budget to functional organizations.
  • Perform variance reviews and implement corrective actions as required to ensure effective earned value & programmatic controls.

25% - Submit proposals for newly identified obsolete materials.

  • Collaborate with technical team and customer to define qualification scope.
  • Lead multiple proposals with timely, accurate submittals.
  • Negotiate contracts that optimize agreements to best meet company and customer needs.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and nine (9) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience working in a technical environment (engineering, manufacturing) and leading a technical team.
  • Experienced with utilizing earned value techniques to manage a project.
  • Ability to travel 25% to support program needs.
  • Must be proficient in typical office computer programs for the conduct of program management such as MS PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Excel and MS Word.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD security clearance.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Experienced with solid rocket motor design and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated abilities in team building, leadership and delegation skills to achieve project goals.
  • Ability to coordinate various activities simultaneously and to make real time plan adjustments.

  

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
