    The Senior Competitive Intelligence Business Analyst is responsible for researching various markets, companies and trends in the aerospace and defense industry, as well as Aerojet Rocketdyne’s (AR) competitors. The Senior Analyst is tasked with synthesizing that research to develop analysis that will be used to improve AR’s competitive position. The Senior Analyst will provide narrative, financial, and visual information to management to help management understand the competitive landscape, and inform strategies to compete and win programs, or to assist in decision making for mergers and acquisitions. The Senior Analyst will also be responsible for maintaining various databases.


    This position may be filled at this level posted or one level higher.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    15% - Researching, distilling, and presenting  information in the narrative and graphical form.


    15% - Analyzing trends in various markets and reporting on those trends.


    15% - Assisting in competitive assessment for proposals.


    15% - Assisting in Price to Win analysis.


    15% - Analyzing competitors, including analysis of financial and contract information.


    15% - Developing PowerPoint presentations and memos on competitors, trends, and market information to assist in strategy and decision making.


    10% - Maintain databases in Excel.


    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.


    Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • General knowledge of the Aerospace and Defense industry.
    • Basic understanding of how the Federal Government works, including the budget process and the procurement process.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

    Ability to:

    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Research, analyze and distill a lot of information quickly, and be able to effectively communicate that information in form that is relevant to AR.
    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
    • Think and work independently, and problem solve to develop strategies and recommendations.
    • Develop visual representation of data and analysis, including, but not limited to scatterplots, graphs, charts and tables.



    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
