Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks experienced Thermal Fluids Analysis Engineers for our Huntsville, AL location. This posting may represent one or more specific immediate or near-term openings. Those who express an interest may be considered for current and future positions.
In this role, you will conduct thermal ablation analysis primarily for solid rocket propulsion systems and components and serve as a senior thermal engineer providing thermal analysis support to develop the analysis techniques and hot fire tests to solid propulsion systems.
70% - Perform engineering thermal analysis primarily for solid propulsion systems and components using in-house or non-proprietary thermal ablation analysis tools or commercial software tools such as ANSYS or CHAR. Typical responsibilities include the planning and cost estimating for the thermal analysis tasks, coordinate thermal analysis efforts with chief engineer and IPT team members, pre-test predictions and post-test analysis of test data to validate component and system analysis models. Coordinate the implementation of thermal solutions for propulsion applications with the design engineers, structural analysts, and manufacturing engineers in a multi-discipline project team.
20% - Design and support verification tests of propulsion systems and components. Develop test systems and strategies, specify instrumentation and analyze test results. Participate in team meetings, technical reviews; design reviews, peer reviews, problem solving meetings and customer technical interchange meetings.
10% - Produce thermal analysis reports and make presentation of analysis results to both internal and external customers. Provide technical guidance to junior thermal analysts.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or related discipline) and at least five (5) years of directly applicable technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional requirements:
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
