This is an opportunity to support the THAAD Boost Motor program. This opening is for a Manager of Programs to support production and development activities in a dynamic, challenging environment.
This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.
50% - Assemble and lead multi-site, integrated product team activities within the Program while interacting with Program Managers, operations, engineering, suppliers, functional managers, and customers to achieve program objectives. Prepare program plans, coordinate cost estimates and manage Earned Value Management System (EVMS) for assigned program(s). Ensure effective variance analysis and corrective actions are in place for all cost account managers.
15% - Lead multimillion dollar proposals compliant with internal policies and FAR regulations. Negotiate contracts to best meet customer and company needs.
15% - Oversee team of program managers ensuring compliance to company policies while providing mentorship and guidance less experienced team members.
10% - Serve as primary customer contact ensuring quality of all customer communications. Prepare presentations and lead teams in presentations to peers, customers, suppliers and managers.
10% - Support company strategic planning with monthly and quarterly financial assessments of program financials with risks to achieve plan and opportunities for improvement.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and 9 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated supervisory skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control the activities of the assigned organization.
Advanced Degree in Engineering and/or MBA preferred.
Technical knowledge of solid or liquid rocket propulsion would be a plus for the applicant and knowledge of supply chain management, lean manufacturing, assembly and ATP processes, graphite-fiber composites, chemical and propellant processing would also be strongly preferred. Ability to use technical knowledge and experience to evaluate plans, processes and results of the supporting team is required.
This position requires working knowledge of project management methods within the defense acquisition environment including program planning, integrated master scheduling, budgeting and earned value management. Ability to implement product design and development stage gate process (reviews for design, build, and test) required. Demonstrated abilities in team building, leadership and delegation skills to achieve project objectives are required. Must have experience in leading, encouraging, reviewing and critiquing work of supporting team members to maximize program success. Demonstrated ability to define and negotiate task objectives, scope description and completion criteria for specific and broad activities. Ability to coordinate various activities simultaneously and to make real-time plan adjustments in response to problems and unexpected interim results. This position requires excellent communication skills, self-motivation, strong leadership skills and the ability to handle and resolve complex problems with minimal guidance.
Willingness to travel and flexibility to work extended hours are required.
Must be proficient in the use of typical office computer programs for conduct of program management such as MS PowerPoint (presentations, logic diagrams), MS Project or similar scheduling tool to create simple project files, MS Excel (entering formulas, graphing, developing spreadsheets), and MS Word (tables, program plans).
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Existing SECRET level clearance desired.
