Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Inspector 2 to join our team in Camden, Arkansas.

 

An Inspector 2 performs assignments requiring general use and application of concepts, practices and techniques under general supervision and following established policies and procedures. The Inspector job classification uses predetermined methods, techniques, operations, and prescribed specifications to inspect products, processes and procured items to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. These positions use various measuring devices; accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems; work with diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, etc; work from blueprints, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists; monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures; may inspect customer owned materials, hardware, etc. for compliance to specifications, drawings, workmanship standards and to the customer's contract or purchase order and may do other duties, as assigned. SHIFT WORK AND OVERTIME ARE REQUIRED.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

65% - Performs inspections on components, parts and assemblies using visual, witness and dimensional inspection methods. May operate CMM inspection machines, ultrasonic thickness gages and numerous other measuring instruments.  Will be required to train and/or assist in training lower level inspectors.

 

15% - Assembles Acceptance Reports for acceptable components. Records and maintains accurate records and files.

 

20% - Use of computer for basic data entries into Oracle, creates Nonconformance Reports for defects identified and also for inputting hours worked by program into the timecard system.

 

Other JOB FUNCTIONS: May perform daily preventative inspection on measuring equipment. Adhere to strict safety and housekeeping standards and other duties assigned as needed to support production areas.  Good computer skills are necessary and required.  Passing a visual certification is required by inspection personnel.

Requirements

Arkansas Career Readiness Certificate-Silver Level required for this position.

 

Graduation from high school (or equivalent) and 1 year of directly related experience in a manufacturing and/or test environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.

 

Specialized equipment use is required to perform specified tasks. Regular and predictable attendance is expected.  Ability to use basic communication and common courtesy with other team members is necessary.

 

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).  Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.  Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

  • Ability to prioritize work to meet critical deadlines. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the work team and those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to quickly learn and interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability and knowledge to perform formalized inspections, demonstrating a good understanding of the related AS9100/ISO9001 elements.
  • Specialized equipment use is required to perform specified tasks.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in mixing of composite explosives and processing of propellants.
  • Trade or vocational school courses in drawing interpretation and basic math.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to manipulate gages, qualify for the respirator program, if required, drive motorized vehicles, lift and/or move materials around 35 pounds, and pass a visual acuity test.

 

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
