We are seeking a Business Analyst to join our team in Huntsville, AL.  Working closely with a lead Business Specialist, the primary responsibilities of the Business Analyst are to prepare and maintain budgets, establish earnings plans, and develop estimates at completion of assigned government aerospace/defense projects. Under supervision, this Business Analyst will apply Earned Value Management, finance, and accounting skills; approve requisitions; prepare financial reporting on a major defense program; use metrics associated with management best practices; and prepare reports to reflect Awards, Sales, Profit, and Cash. Working with the lead Business Specialist, the Business Analyst may assist proposal teams, develop Bases-of-Estimate, provide actuals data, and support fact-finding/negotiations.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

80% - Compile budget and project cost performance (external and internal financial reports) data and present to lead Business Analyst. Understand and incorporate necessary changes. Assists in the analysis of data and prepares financial reports, including graphs and charts, for Program Managers and other internal and external customers. Create financial spreadsheets including ad hoc reports. Interface with management on financial matters.

 

20% - Assist in providing forecast of program awards, sales, profit and staffing by entering financial data into Excel spreadsheets. Review data with lead.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or an appropriate discipline and three (3) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Requires mathematical ability to accurately perform calculations used in cost/budget analysis.

 

Must have strong foundation of computer skills and be proficient using imported and/or exported data. Requires familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Access experience is a plus. This position requires an understanding of general accounting principles and Earned Value Management, including the ability to accurately assess cost data and forecast expenditures. Must have solid communication and teamwork skills.

 

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).  Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.  Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

 

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
