We are seeking a Specialist, Business Operations to join our team in Huntsville, AL.


The primary responsibilities of the Business Specialist are to prepare and maintain budgets, establish earnings plans, and develop estimates at completion of assigned government aerospace/defense projects. The Business Specialist will apply Earned Value Management, finance, and accounting skills; approve requisitions; prepare financial reporting on a major defense program; use metrics associated with management best practices; and prepare reports to reflect Awards, Sales, Profit, and Cash. The Business Specialist may also assist proposal teams, develop Bases-of-Estimate, provide actuals data, and support fact-finding/negotiations.


Some travel will be required. 

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working with minimal direction:


30% - Provide technical direction to Business Analysts.


20% - Manage costs of government contracts.        


20% - Approve/review Earned Value Management Report Data.


10% - Present Cost and Schedule data to internal managment and external customers.


10% - Develop and manage Business Plans, 5-Year Strategic Plans including Awards, Sales, Profit, Cash Flow and Staffing Forecasts.


10% - Approve/review Contract changes, proposals, and procurement requisitions.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and ten (10) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An advanced degree in Business Administration is preferred.


Must be experienced in program cost and schedule management and demonstrate the ability to implement processes and methods in accordance with business management systems and leadership decisions. Demonstrated performance in business operations, including a detailed knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), performance measurement systems, command media, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reports, procedures, and directives.


US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.



Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
