Under limited supervision and following established policies, the Test Technician 3 performs assignments requiring full working knowledge use and application of concepts, practices, and techniques.
This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.
20% - Troubleshoot and check out instrumentation problems such as a shorted or open circuit due to instrument cable problems. Review Test Plans for possible instrumentation conflicts or inaccessible areas. Troubleshoot and be able to set the Conditioning box controls. Handle the set up and activation of a test equipment such as Hydrologger, Vishay Amplifier, Micro-welder, or Multimeter (VOM).
30% - Utilize complex instrumentation and equipment including, but not limited to, Load cells, Pressure transducers, strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers, video cameras and High Speed Video camera system. Specifically, a background with the Phantom High Speed Camera System would be a plus.
10% - Support Process Engineers by setting up, operating experimental or prototype equipment to meet processing requirements.
10% - Perform analysis, calculations, statistics, and prepare reports on above activities.
15% - Review designs and specifications with Engineers and more advanced technicians.
10% - Assist in developing standard operating procedures and special instructions necessary to support processing of rocket motors.
5% - Perform other duties as required.
Requires an Associate's degree with a concentration in engineering, physical science or related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
