Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our Hall, Arcjet and Ion in-space propulsion programs. This position will be located at our facility in Redmond, WA. In this role, you will support development, qualification, and acceptance testing for the Hall, Arcjet, Ion or other electric propulsion (EP) thruster systems comprising of power processors, propellant flow management, and thruster subcomponents.
This position may be filled at this level posted or one level higher.
Under limited general direction, the Senior Systems Engineer will perform professional assignments requiring complete working knowledge of application of concepts, practices, and techniques. This position requires knowledge and experience with electric propulsion systems, data analysis, systems integration, and test planning. Tasks include development of test plans, development of test procedures, data analysis, generation of technical documents, preparation and presentation of technical briefings to internal and external customers.
85% - The candidate will be required to operate under general supervision after receiving direction from the Program Chief Engineer. Coordinates activities regarding meeting test objectives to develop, qualify and accept the electric propulsion thrust system for flight duty. This includes developing a thorough understanding of the thruster system and test facility systems. The position coordinates the integration of all component and system engineering support for hardware and software. Leads the post engine test data analysis and any potential anomaly resolution. Coordinates, prepares, and presents hardware acceptance reviews to the customer. The candidate will be responsible for generating and briefing of technical documentation including specifications, software requests, data review, test readiness reviews, anomaly reports, hardware acceptance reviews, and test report documents.
15% - Limited travel to multiple test sites will be required.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field and 5 years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience with electric rocket propulsion systems or plasma devices desired.
Experience working an equivalent engineering environment is desired.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
