  • Overview

    Aerojet Rocketdyne Coleman Aerospace is looking for an electrical designer who will be supporting multiple projects that include component selection and cable electrical design of electrical systems used for the command and control of aerospace vehicles. The successful candidate will be well rounded in basic electrical and electronic design. The small team atmosphere provided by Coleman Aerospace demands the capability to devise simple solutions to complex engineering problems both independently and by soliciting inputs from other technical subject matter experts.

     

    This position will be located in Orlando, FL

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    30% - Support multiple projects that include component selection, cable electrical design, and testing. 

    30% - Generate electrical cable and support equipment schematics.

    30% - Support the testing, troubleshooting and root cause determination on cables and participate in simple electrical tests.

    10% -  Work with the program technical leads, production operations, quality assurance, customer and the customer’s representatives to ensure that the cable designs meets all requirements.

    Requirements

    Required:

    • Must possess a BS in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)  and have a minimum of 2 years of related experience or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have an understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals
    • Must have knowledge of reading/generating electrical schematics
    • Must have experience using design tools for electrical schematic capture
    • Must be detail-oriented
    • Responsible for learning the Coleman processes necessary to identify electrical interfaces and create cable schematics
    • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications
    • The candidate must have good written and oral communication skills to be able to convey design ideas in a clear and concise manner. 

    Desired:

    • Mentor DxDesigner schematic capture software
    • Any Electrical Circuit Analysis skill is a plus
    • Experience with documentation for military electronic systems
    • Experience with test of military electronic systems, including flight vehicle systems
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Applicants selected may be subject to a security investigation for access to classified information. 
    • Strong presentation skills

     

    This position may require occasional overtime as required to meet critical schedule milestones. Significant travel is not expected.
