Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join us in Huntsville, AL. The SQE is responsible for ensuring that delivered products and/or services conform to contractual and the Company’s requirements by designing, implementing, evaluating and continually improving quality assurance and control methods and systems. The SQE will assure suppliers translate design drawings and contractual requirements into a comprehensive, understandable and functional quality plan. SQE will be required to monitor and closely support manufacturing, inspection and supplier functions that relate to product quality; coordinate with the customer the establishment of government quality requirements and material review board activities; represent quality assurance in corrective action activities; and participate in audits or product evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the quality assurance program. This activity will include various product acceptance techniques including performing FAI’s, physical over-inspection of products dimensional characteristics and review and approval of documentation packages.

Working under general supervision:
40% - Engage with suppliers on Post Award reviews, Manufacturing Readiness Reviews and control Plan development activities on critical/key characteristics assuring full understanding of requirements. Maintain a running action item list for all assigned suppliers. Oversee activities of 3rd party contractors who support routine product acceptance activities.
30% - Visit suppliers and perform investigations and root cause analysis to drive improvements into their processes. Be accountable for assigned suppliers' performance and ensure suppliers are performing with a 100% quality and delivery rating.
15% - Interface and work jointly with internal and external customers; i.e., engineering, manufacturing, supplier, procurement to ensure requirements are understood and fully complied with. Analyze supplier processes and planning to verify reliable compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, processes, specifications, etc.
15% - Create and report out on supplier performance trends and issues as requested by Programs, Site, SCMM (supply chain and material management) or Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) management. Support Corrective Action Board and Quality Council report outs for underperforming suppliers or as requested. Participates in managing the supplier ratings/scorecard system and overseeing periodic meetings. Work closely with Receiving Inspection to resolve product issues. Drive continuous improvements into SQE standard work.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality or other appropriate discipline and two (2) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
