    Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Senior Engineer, Analysis / Systems to join our team at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.


    The successful individual hired for this position will work with and provide leadership to, technicians and Quality Assurance personnel, as well as other engineering staff, supervision, and management, supporting assembly, test, and delivery of large rocket engines and components, with primary responsibility for rocket engine test preparation, test, and post test processing. Employee will have, or develop, specialized knowledge of engine and component function & assembly, pre- and post-test processing and functional testing and inspections. Employee will provide leadership to related disciplines, including contractors, and customers, to ensure successful assembly, testing, and delivery of Aerojet Rocketdyne products. Daily communication of activities and status with Aerojet Rocketdyne personnel at the Design Centers will be required.


    The ideal candidates will have an existing thorough knowledge of engineering principles, and demonstrate great attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices. Success in this position requires sound collaboration skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships based on honest, proactive, and open communication, preparation for and delivery to the customer. Experience with rocket engine assembly, test, and/or field site processing is desired, experience with LEAN practices is a plus.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    • Working under limited general direction:


    60% - Issuing detailed work instructions, based on specific pre-determined requirements and knowledge of systems and system components, as well as to support and document checkout and test activities.


    10% - Coordination of day-to-day program needs ranging from design changes to hardware and software changes, attending meetings to assure that planned direction is in the best interest of the program and the customer.


    10% - Coordination and disposition of non-conformance & Material Review documents for nonconforming engine and facility-based instrumentation and controls components and systems. Manage and track anomalies to ensure proper disposition or closure prior to test or delivery.


    10% - Troubleshoot anomalies and coordinate troubleshooting activities with personnel representing other internal and external customer organizations.


    5% - Lead or participate on corrective action teams and specifically driving continuous improvement throughout all site processes.


    5% - Monitoring engine operational parameters during rocket engine chill and hotfire test.


    Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred) or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of related experience (3 years for MS candidates, 0 years for PhD candidates) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


    US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Additionally, candidate must be able to successfully complete the NASA Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) screening.


    Preferences include:

    • Ability to troubleshoot anomalies.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strength in teaming and collaboration in a diverse work environment, self-starter.

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
