    Aerojet Rocketdyne offers a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion. These include the Atlas and Delta launch vehicles, RL 10 engine, J2-X engine, and the RS-68 engines.


    Aerojet Rocketdyne is hiring a Electrician/Electrical Mechanic for our West Palm Beach, FL office. Position may be required to be on 2nd shift.


    Position level will be filled based on education and experience of identified candidate.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    Install, service, maintain, modify and repair a wide variety of basic to intricate and highly complex industrial electronic and electrical systems and controls, support equipment and associated systems used throughout plant facilities.


    50% - Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment and systems, and other duties of a comparable or lower skill level as required to facilitate maintenance and construction operations.


    30% - Answer trouble calls on highly sophisticated electronic and electrical systems and equipment with multiple mechanical interfaces where transient and multiple source problems are common. Work from complicated drawings, schematic diagrams and service manuals to resolve problems associated with various machine controls such as electronic, hydraulic, complex inspection equipment, newly installed or redesigned test stands, test stand apparatus and other types of equipment which utilize analog or digital logic, computers, microprocessors and programmable logic controllers (PLC’s).


    10% - Use various test instruments such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, recording instruments and various types of circuit analyzers to trouble shoot and correct malfunctions in sophisticated systems where operating parameters are affected by a large number of interrelated elements which require careful analysis and evaluation. Check circuits, sub-assemblies and components including integrated circuits for required parameters at various points and determine whether equipment is functioning properly and the nature of any malfunction. Determine best method of making repairs, adjustments or changes and devise temporary hookups, if necessary, to minimize interruptions and avoid shutdowns. Provide service to specific areas, as directed, to fulfill emergency electrical requirements for repairs.


    As required, install, service and repair switchgear, transformers, and other high voltage equipment and associated substation wiring. Be familiar with AC voltage operation & hazards up to 4160 volt and Lock Out Tag Out practices.


    10% - Assist in installation, modification, repair and maintenance of intricate and highly complex electronic and electrical systems and controls.


    In addition to the typical duties listed above, this position also requires:

    • Complying with area Safety and Environmental requirements.
    • Maintaining logs and records as required.
    • Shift work may be required – must be able to work either 1st or 2nd shift.
    • Referring difficulties or unusual situations to lead/supervisor.
    • Work in a team environment.


    Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Position requires 0-4 years of experience, depending on level filled.


    Required: Journeyman or apprenticeship in industrial background.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with DC voltage systems & controls.
    • Familiarity with Single phase/3-phase wiring and remote control systems in an industrial environment.
    • Familiarity with Single phase and 3 phase motor operation and control.
    • Familiarity with National Electric Code and NFPA standards (electrical Hazardous location requirements).

    US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.



    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
