    Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Manager, Analysis (Aero Thermal Fluids and Ballistics) for its Huntsville, AL Headquarters.

    This position is responsible for leading the Defense Aero Thermal Fluids and Ballistics groups within the Analysis Organization. These groups focus on the design, analysis and integration of liquid and solid rocket based propulsion systems. Programs supported include both military and commercial applications. This is a fast paced environment that requires knowledge of the entire value stream from proposals to product implementation.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    60% - Provides technical leadership for the Defense Aero Thermal Fluids and Ballistics groups which are critical to Aerojet Rocketdyne Programs. Advises subordinates in the resolution of technical, programmatic, and operational problems based on specific goals, Aerojet Rocketdyne policy, procedures and meeting established schedules.

    20% - Develops and implements processes and tools as appropriate for the Defense Aero Thermal Fluids and Ballistics groups for continued development, education and training. Participates in Technical Meetings (internal and external) as required to maintain knowledge in this field. Works across the company to ensure consistent application of best practices in performing job responsibilities.

    20% - Manages direct reports working on a variety of project activities. Supports goals of integrated product teams by balancing work-loads and priorities of direct reports and addressing administrative issues pertaining to the accomplishment of tasks. Manages training budgets, conducts performance appraisals, and supports discretionary tasks as required.


    Requires a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or other related discipline) and fourteen (14) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred but not required.


    Additional Requirements:

    • Requires seven (7) years of work experience in an Engineering lead role.
    • Experience with design and analysis of solid rocket motors is essential.
    • Demonstrated supervisory and strong communication skills managing a team of engineers with multiple assignments and priorities.
    • Knowledge of DoD Security Regulation is required. ITAR.
    • Must have excellent communication skills.
    • US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
    • Must be able to travel up to 10%.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Understanding of and planning skills for technology development for new propulsion products, including familiarity with performance metrics such as cost, schedule, and variance analysis.



    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
