    We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst for our Sacramento, CA location.

     

    The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, General Accounting and will be part of the team responsible for providing rapid and high-quality financial information. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including backup support for the Hyperion Administrator, balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analysis, support for environmental accounting, quarter and year-end audit preparation, review and update of SOX process narratives and walk-throughs, and other ad-hoc assignments.  Working closely with internal and external auditors is also required.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    Working under limited general direction:

     

    30% - Provide support to the Hyperion Administrator and provide backup to key Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) functions. Special projects will also be assigned in this area and will initially include comprehensive documentation of existing HFM processes and procedures in the form of narrative and desktop procedures. 

     

    30% - Performs monthly reporting, variance analysis and ad hoc analyses, ensuring that all financial information is presented clearly, consistently, and on time. Prepares and provides support of audit requests for external, internal and DCAA audits. Completes accounting and reporting ad hoc requests and researches and provides recommendations to management regarding complex accounting issues. Recommends and performs process improvements and corrective actions.

     

    20% - Support Finance management with special projects and workflow process improvements. Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Assists the SEC group in the preparation of disclosures required in accordance with Regulation S-X and S-K for the company’s SEC reporting requirements. Supports ad-hoc special projects required for governmental accounting (FAR/CAS).

     

    20% - Supports the General Ledger team in performing accounting activities for specialized and complex assignments. Applies principles of accounting to prepare, reconcile and analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital to ensure the accurate delivery of financial reports.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 6 years' experience in general ledger accounting, financial analysis and reporting, and account reconciliation (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).

     

    US citizenship required. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

    • CPA strongly preferred.
    • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle or other ERP systems is strongly desired.
    • Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products is required. Independent, self-motivated individual with strong organization skills and attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, able to prioritize to meet critical deadlines, and focus on work product quality and accuracy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with hands on approach to process improvement and effective problem resolution.
    • Exercises broad discretion and creativity as to work details.
    • Job Conditions/Complexity: This is a hands-on environment requiring this role to work on complex problems that require analysis of situations or an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
    • This position exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

     

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
