The Paralegal/Legal Assistant applies expertise to support and contribute to the effective operation of the Office of General Counsel including the Ethics & Compliance program. This position increases the efficiency of the Office of General Counsel to meet demand for its services by accomplishing tasks not reserved for lawyers in several areas including in the ethics and compliance area.
This is a non-exempt role located at our Defense Headquarters in Huntsville, AL.
Reporting jointly to the Defense Business Unit General Counsel and the Director of Ethics & Compliance, the Paralegal/Legal Assistant performs a variety of administrative and support duties that are complex in nature where judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
45% - Provide direct support to assigned Defense Business Unit General Counsel and Director of Ethics & Compliance by providing paralegal-type services, conducting administrative management of Ethics & Compliance reporting tool, helping prepare detailed presentations, and assist with carrying out various aspects of Ethics & Compliance program, including assisting with internal program outreach, communications, training, and investigations monitoring, as well as maintaining sensitive records, and forms, including personnel paperwork for the Office of General Counsel including the Ethics & Compliance department. Tasks will require application of good judgment, tact, and multi-tasking in order to accomplish work.
40% - Assist department personnel and assigned/co-located COE personnel with travel plans, expense reports, scheduling/coordinating meetings, reserving conference rooms, coordinating visitor requests, supply requests, files, and general day-to-day office management.
15% Help prepare reports and related material required by the Office of General Counsel. Maintain active files and archives and provide other needed support.
High School Diploma, or equivalent, preferred, and seven (7) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. Candidate should be eligible to seek a paralegal certificate within 18 months.
US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.
