We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist Engineer for our growing Culpeper, VA facility.
In this role, you will provide imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems through the application of Quality Engineering disciplines and tools. Integrate Lean Manufacturing practices into Inspection processes (i.e.poka yoke, waste reduction, Build Quality In, etc.). Must be proactive and have demonstrated problem solving skills. The position exercises considerable latitude in interpreting and determining technical objectives and approaches to assignments.
Work is performed with minimal direction.
20% - Facilitate the identification of causes related to product defects or discrepancies in manufacturing, design and supplier processes. Identify and implement key preventive and corrective actions to correct the identified causes. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and analyzing program data, identifying key weaknesses or process failures, creating plans to prevent or remedy nonconformities and ensure timely execution of agreed upon plans.
20% - Work with program quality leads and managers to ensure appropriate quality engineering/inspection coverage for assigned programs; develop and communicate specific assignments to the teams; utilize those quality resources to ensure appropriate level of quality support is applied; ensure decisions are based on sound quality principles and procedures in conjunction with program priorities.
20% - Participate in the development and/or modification of engineering designs and specification for translation into robust and efficient manufacturing and quality control methods. This includes conducting process failure modes effects analysis and reviewing process planning to ensure all technical requirements are met. Drive consistency through a disciplined approach to following command media and process planning.
20% - Provide imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems through the application of quality engineering disciplines and tools.
10% - Support both Aerojet Rocketdyne and vendor production as required. Participate in the disposition of discrepant hardware and the development of preventive and corrective actions.
10% - Act as liaison with the customer quality community to develop and maintain a positive working relationship.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering or Physical Science discipline and at least 9 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
