Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Director of Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) for our Camden, Arkansas facility.
The successful candidate will be a proven effective leader with substantial safety and environmental regulatory compliance experience. The candidate is expected to lead a team of SH&E professionals and is responsible to design, develop, implement and oversee the site's environmental, health and safety programs and processes to safeguard employees and the surrounding communities and to ensure all activities are operated in compliance with all regulatory and company requirements. This position is responsible for supporting managers and individual contributors by directing SH&E processes. The candidate provides short and long-range tactical and strategic planning for SH&E processes and implement approved plans; provides technical leadership and functional guidance to the Defense Business Unit and Camden site; ensures that quality control procedures are executed to monitor all aspects of regulations; establishes and maintains regulatory compliance calendars; coordinates audit programs within the organization to identify and control significant loss producing exposure; keeps informed on all existing and proposed changes in environmental regulations; executes SH&E leading indicator metrics; and, promotes communication programs to enhance and encourage a strong SH&E culture based on the foundation of employee involvement.
Position reports directly to the Aerojet Rocketdyne Corporate Senior Director of SH&E and in a matrix capacity to the Camden Operations Site Director.
100% - The Director of Safety, Health and Environment will:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and 14 years of progressive experience and responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Requires the ability to travel by air and auto, including travel by auto within Camden site facility. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Camden is a Monday thru Thursday (4/10) work shift.
May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, respiratory protection, and shop coat. May require the ability to respond to emergency events in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER). Requires ability to participate and/or manage emergency response, in accordance with AR site Emergency Response Plan(s). Ability to work in field on uneven terrain in extreme environments as much as 25% of job. Extreme environments, including heat (>100 degrees F), cold (<32 degrees F), rain, etc.
