    The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for planning, developing, positioning and capturing business opportunities for Aerojet Rocketdyne. This position will be focused on business opportunities in In-Space Propulsion and related propulsion technologies.

    This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.


    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    30% - Plan, develop and execute marketing plans and strategies in support of targeted propulsion market areas. Coordinate activities with other Aerojet Rocketdyne business development, program managers and technical staff.

    20% - Maintain customer contacts; analyze customer programs and long-range marketing plans for potential opportunities; monitor government appropriations.

    20% - Support proposal development and capture plans for targeted opportunities to include competitive assessments and win strategies.

    15% - Plan and ensure the successful execution of discretionary funded efforts to ensure capture of targets of opportunity.

    15% - Monitor strategic market for trends, potential opportunities, customer and competitor activities.

    SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.


    Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 9 years of directly related experience OR a Master's degree and at least 7 years of directly related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

    Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to direct and control marketing organizational resources, overall business sector people and financial resources a must.
    • Must have demonstrated leadership skills including presentation skills appropriate for management level and the ability to plan, prioritize and delegate work assignments.
    • Technical product line marketing ability is essential.
    • Extensive knowledge of In-Space propulsion products, policies and procedures strongly preferred. Close familiarity with the In-Space propulsion commercial, DoD and NASA space programs and customers beneficial.
    • Requires the strong ability to promote Aerojet Rocketdyne as a propulsion supplier of choice to key customers.
    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of management and individual contributors.
    • Requires strong computer skills and ability to employ Aerojet Rocketdyne applications software.
    • Ability and willingness to travel periodically within the United States and abroad is needed.


    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
