    Aerojet Rocketdyne Coleman Aerospace is searching for a Payroll Administrator to join its Orlando, FL location.

     

    Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) Coleman Aerospace is an innovative systems engineering and integration provider. Both a prime contractor and subcontractor, AR Coleman designs and produces sophisticated ballistic missiles as replicas of global missile defense threats. AR Coleman provides a variety of suborbital launch vehicles, payloads, and launch services.

     

    This opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher if the successful candidate has the necessary experience to justisfy the level adjustment.

    Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

    Working under general supervision:

     

    80%:

    • Responsible for the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 175 employees.
    • Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets on a weekly basis.
    • Process, review and post labor on a weekly basis.
    • Process, review and post leave accruals on a weekly basis.
    • Responsible for the coordination efforts between Payroll and Human Resources to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. leave balances and headcount).
    • Handle the administration of the electronic timekeeping system, monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data transfers to/from Corporate Payroll.
    • Ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to company policies including compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
    • Prepare monthly headcount reports and other payroll-related reports.

    20%:

    • Assist in month end closing.
    • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting practices.
    • Assist with other projects as needed.

    Requirements

    Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline and 3 years or related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of Costpoint is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel expected.
    • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion. Professional attitude and reliability a must.
    • Must be well organized, detail oriented with time management skills. 
    • Must be able to follow standard filing procedures.
    • Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on meeting deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

    US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

     

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
